The Dray Shed at Old Mogo Town houses three vehicles. The heavy dray was designed to be drawn by a team of horses and was used to cart heavy loads, often agricultural. The buggy was a light vehicle designed to carry people quickly and gently over the rough roads. It would have been drawn by a suitable horse. Standard bred horses that are used in trotting and pacing races were developed for this purpose. |

The timber jinker was used to cart logs to the mill. The logs were loaded under the two gangs, being raised off the ground by the cantilever design. When going downhill there was a quick release on the back gang that allowed the log to be dropped on the ground to act as a brake. When the alluvial gold dried up a lot of diggers moved to timber, which was a major industry in this area. |
